I love spending time outside, especially with my family.  Hiking is my favorite, but I'm up for most other forms of outdoor recreation. I also really enjoy reading a good book, though not as much as my wife does!  I also enjoy oil painting, although I don't like painting people or in front of people. Perspective is a rarity in an academic life and I’m so grateful that I have a number of regular ways to be reminded of what is true.
